1 X copper-alloy French shield jetton dating to the period c. AD 1500-1525. The obverse depicts the Shield of France with three fleurs-de-lis surmounted by a crown that interrupts the margin with a fictitious legend. The reverse depicts an imperial orb surmounted by a cross within an ornamental tressure that has three main arches, and a fictitious legend. There is a punched circular hole close at 11 o'clock indicative of possible reuse, and a large crack projecting from one side into the centre. See Mitchiner 1988, p. 355, no. 1069 for a similar example.
